Insider Tips for Visiting Walla Walla

Visiting Walla Walla should be one on your list this year. Why? Simple because it is Walla Walla – a place that has a lot to offer making you want to live there and leave your city life. It is a place for all. There are parks for the kids, campsites for all ages, awesome hills for the bikers and trails for the hikers. Needless to say, Walla Walla is a one-stop vacation spot for everyone.

If you are planning for a visit, here are a few tips you need to keep in mind as a Walla Walla traveler:

  • Expect to drive, as the great things in Walla Walla are not located in just one spot.  Make sure you have a designated driver or hire a touring service for your visit. It only takes about half an hour to drive from one side of Walla Walla Valley to the other.
  • Walla Walla is known to be the wine capital of the region. So it is important to know the basic tasting etiquette: Follow the 4-step tasting method where you look, smell, taste and take notes. It is pretty common to see experienced wine tasters use a spitoon while tasting and pour remaining tastes into a dump bucket before moving on, you will notice this when you visit with a group. And if you are sensitive to alcohol, try this method out, it’s one way to stay sharp knowing you are just a visitor to the place.
  • Walla Walla Valley speaks comfort. You do not have to wear stilettos and a shawl. Keep in mind that visiting Walla Walla is more of a physical thing so if you’re planning to go to a winery, make sure to wear shoes with grip because the working winery floor gets slippery. And it is also not recommended to wear perfume or strong smelling lotions. These will ruin the aromatic experience for you and the other visitors.
  • Make sure you have the list of the best hotels and restaurants. From fine dining and casual meals, to dessert bars and even food trucks, Walla Walla has something for you.

I hope these tips of ours can help you on your next vacation in the Walla Walla region. Always remember to enjoy every minute of your tour. But it is great to go back here if you wish to!
